Course Description

The Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) is an in-service and pre-service teaching degree that will develop your skills and knowledge for teaching in the Technologies areas of private or public schools, Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, or with private RTOs or training academies. . This course is accredited with the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board, and is recognised in all states and territories, so once you graduate you’ll be qualified to teach in schools anywhere in Australia.

This course is highly suitable for TAFE teachers seeking to further develop their capabilities and advance their career. It is also suitable for experienced professionals in specialised areas such as construction, fabrication, cooking and hospitality who are seeking to become Technology teachers in the school sector.

You will be required to undertake a number of Professional Experience placements totalling 80 days, mainly in a school context. This will give you the opportunity to apply the theoretical and practical skills that you have learnt in a safe and supportive environment.

The Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) is available full or part-time online, and provides advanced standing for students with current and relevant qualifications and experience, reducing the length of the course.

Entry Requirements

If you’re interested in studying the Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning), you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

Industry experience and vocational qualifications

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Education (Applied Learning) you will need to hold vocational qualifications (minimum of Certificate III) in your current or intended teaching area, as well as significant (at least 4 years) of relevant industry experience. As such, this course is not suitable for school leavers.
