The scholarship has been generously established in memory of the distinguished Indigenous Australian, Ken Wanganeen. Mr Wanganeen completed his first degree with honours at Flinders University and during his career became Assistant Secretary in the Department of Aboriginal Affairs. He was committed to developing constructive ways of bringing the people of Australia together.
Each year the Australian National University will offer a number of scholarships to assist students in financial need from outside of the Canberra region who are commencing a degree program at the Australian National University.
The National University Scholarship aims reward academic excellence in secondary school studies by providing assistance with living costs and other expenses related to tertiary studies.
There shall be a number of scholarships available for new indigenous students at ANU known as the National Indigenous University Scholarship. The objectives of the National Indigenous University Scholarship are to acknowledge the academic excellence of Indigenous in secondary school studies and provide assistance with costs related to tertiary studies.
This scholarship aims to provide a tuition fee concession to accredited diplomats and their immediate family.
The Scholarship will awarded to an applicant who has performed at a very high level in the Foundation Studies Program.
