It is recommended that learners commencing this micro-credential are currently working in the field of procurement, supply chain management, or related corporate roles in government or the not-for-profit or private sectors.

This micro-credential has been developed in close consultation with the government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations that are leading the way in social procurement practices in Australia.

Your learning is designed to match industry needs, and you'll gain practical insights into the social procurement process and the benefits it can bring, which can be immediately applied to your role and organisation.

By the end of this course, you'll have a deeper understanding of how to implement social and sustainable procurement practices. You'll be able to:

  • Critically reflect upon your work and the practice of social procurement implementation
  • Analyse social procurement policy and apply procedures in your contemporary regulatory environment
  • Analyse the implementation challenges in your work context and the tools and techniques that can be applied to social procurement.

This course runs for six weeks.

Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:

  • 9 hours guided learning (including five 1.5-hour webinars and asynchronous exercises)
  • 11 self-directed learning
  • 22 hours for assessment tasks.

  • Video Reflection on Practice Challenge (35%)
  • Strategic Implementation in Practice (65%).

Implementation of Social and Sustainable Procurement can be taken as a stand-alone course or complemented with the other micro-credentials in the Social and Sustainable Procurement series:

To get the most out of this course, we recommend taking Foundations Social and Sustainable Procurement first, but this is not a formal prerequisite.

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Implementation of Social and Sustainable Procurement micro-credential. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life. This micro-credential includes guided and self-directed learning, to provide both flexibility and support.

Guided learning includes live webinars featuring guest presenters drawn from the social procurement industry. You'll also participate in discussion threads with your peers, undertake quizzes and reflect on readings and case studies.

The course is designed to provide a rich, multidisciplinary learning experience that will equip you with skills that match the real-world needs of the sector.
