There are no entry requirements, however it is highly recommended that students have attained a Sound Achievement (SA) result in Year 10 numeracy and literacy subjects or equivalent prior to enrolling in this course. Distance - Mixed Mode students undertaking this course will need to participate in work placement or attend campus practical activities where available to fulfil the practical requirements of this course.
Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or high level course.

This course is designed for those who are working within a suitable workplace in the Horticulture Industry. We will be in contact after you submit your application for a pre-training review. This will assist our teachers to understand your capabilities and match these to the course requirements. You will then be guided to undertake a literacy and numeracy skills assessment*, which will assist us to determine your skill level relative to the program.
*an outcome of exit level 3 in literacy and exit level 3 in numeracy is desired for entry to this course.
This course is suited to people who wish to obtain a range of technical skills in horticulture and are interested in learning how to identify plants and maintain gardens. It will suit people who are passionate about the environment, like working outdoors and have an aptitude for practical work.

Applicants will be required to undertake the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) to confirm they have the required Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to work at a Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) exit level 2 or higher.
