Do you want to build a career from the foundations up to the ridge flashing?. When you complete the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) you will be ready for a career as a construction site manager, or (with additional experience) registered building practitioner.
Entry Requirements

Prospective applicants should already have a minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory role within the building and construction industry.

In order to complete this course you will need to be able to:

  • a
    pply knowledge of structural principles
  • apply knowledge of risk and financial management
  • accurately estimate costs including labour, materials and overheads
  • prepare and administer building and construction contract
  • select contractors and supervise work

It is also expected that you will have a high level of

digital literacy including the ability to use estimating software, access library databases, online research skills and the ability to independently learn through an online platform. You must also have access to a live building and construction workplace to be able to meet the requirements for some units.

Students without the minimum education requirements may also be considered, provided they have relevant work experience and a demonstrated capacity to meet the course requirements.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for funding, you must be an Australian Citizens or Resident (with residency in Victoria) and must be at least 16 years of age. You can enrol in two funded skill sets per calendar year.

Students are required to bring their own personal protective clothing and equipment (PPC&E) including:
- high visibility vest
- safety glasses.

If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

* An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0, with a minimum 6.0 in each subset; or

* An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or

* Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 54; or

* Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)- Requires overall score of 75 or better with no score less than 21 (Internet Based).

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study and must appear on a single result certificate.

The Certificate III in Joinery provides comprehensive training in all practical and theoretical aspects of joinery and stair construction.
Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this program. As this is an apprenticeship, prior to enrolment or commencement of training students are required to have an Epsilon registration and signed contract with an employer, and a signed training plan with the RTO.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
