The University's Bachelor Honours Degree (AQF Level 8) Policy will apply.

The criteria for admission to this Honours program are:

  • successful completion of the Griffith Bachelor of Exercise Science or an equivalent qualification from another university and
  • a GPA of at least 5.0 over the second and third year of the Bachelor degree.

The Program Director will take the following into consideration when assessing applications for admission:

  • the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic, the resources available to support the candidature and the availability of appropriate supervision and
  • the preparedness of the applicant to undertake the degree in terms of the elapsed time since the prospective candidate qualified for the award of a Bachelor degree and the academic preparation provided by the Bachelor degree for the candidate's proposed dissertation topic.

Entry Requirements

When applying, you must demonstrate that you have met the listed Entry Requirements and English Language Proficiency requirements.

After you have applied and enrolled in this course, you will need to be able to meet the Security and Health Requirements as these generally relate to work-integrated learning activities that form part of your course. You will be provided with more information about security and health requirements after enrolling in the relevant units that these relate to.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement The COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to be eligible to attend a WIL placement for this course. Students will be required to provide evidence of having completed a COVID-19 vaccination schedule by the closing date prior to a WIL placement. The vaccine received must be a vaccine approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion within the last 5 years of:

  • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent); or
  • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full-time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland or Untied States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 7.0 with a minimum 7.0 in each subset; or
  • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Each student will be assessed individually.

Security Requirements

As a part of this course, students will undertake work integrated learning.

To participate in work integrated learning, students may require the following:

  • Student Deed Poll
  • Working with Children Card
  • Criminal Police Check

Health Requirements

As a part of this course, students will undertake work integrated learning. To participate in work integrated learning, students may require the following vaccinations:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • DTpa (Whooping Cough)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • Tuberculosis Screening

Additional vaccinations may also be required. This will depend on the type of placement site and the site location, as different states have different vaccinations regulations and requirements. For instance, students who undertake placement in remote Australia may require the Hepatitis A and Japanese encephalitis vaccination. Placement in Western Australia and Northern Territory require students also have the MRSA - Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus vaccination before commencing placement, and some states also require students to have the Influenza Vaccination (some states have this as a requirement and other states this is recommended but not mandatory).
Students may also be required to hold a current First Aid / CPR certificate. For additional information, please refer to the CQUniversity Handbook.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students interested in enrolling in this course are strongly encouraged to have either attained the Australian Year 12 Certificate or gained relevant industry experience. However, if you have not obtained either of these, an interview will be required to assess your suitability for the program. This interview serves to gather additional information and to customise support tailored to your transition into a new career path. Conveniently, the interview can be conducted either in person at the CIT Bruce campus, via a phone call, or through an online meeting platform.

Upon enrolment, we'll evaluate your Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills through a specific activity. If we find any areas where you could use some extra support, we may suggest additional Foundation Skills subjects to help strengthen your abilities, thereby increasing your chances of success in the course.

Before undertaking any industry placement, you will be required to undertake a 'Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP)' background check or State equivalent.
