Entry Requirements

There are no prescribed training package requirements.

Once you have applied for the course you will attend an information and enrolment session. At this session and prior to enrolment CIT requires prospective students to achieve the following:

- Demonstrate an expressed interest in working with people who live with issues of disability. Applicants may be interviewed to demonstrate interest in complex client support, human rights and person-centred frameworks and genuine interest to work with diverse colleagues and clients. A course advisor will make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you and identify additional support where required.
- Demonstrate the appropriate literacy and numeracy skills by undertaking a literacy and numeracy assessment task provided by CIT. You will need to achieve a score of 3 in most categories in a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND).
- Dependent on the outcome of this assessment task you may be required to undertake additional Foundation Skills subjects to support your learning and success in this course.

Prior to placement, students must:
- Provide a National Police Check
- ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration.
- Evidence of required vaccinations.

For the duration of study, students will need:
- Reliable internet and device for online study, research, and assessment submission.
- If you are entering this course as a Trainee/Apprentice under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will need to complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (bksb) assessment and achieve a competency of at least Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both language and numeracy.

Applicants will need to provide evidence of a National Police Check.

If English is your primary language, and your previous education was completed in one of the following countries:

* Australia

* Canada

* New Zealand

* Republic of Ireland

* South Africa

* United Kingdom

* United States of America

you will need to submit a TasTAFE Statutory Declaration (PDF) upon application.

All other applicants will need to provide evidence of an in-date formal English language test demonstrating they have achieved the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) specified level of English language skills. The required results for relevant test are listed below:

* International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

* Occupational English Test (OET) - minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

* Pearson's Test of English (PTE) - minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking).

* Test of English as a Foreign Language / Internet-based test (TOELF-iBT) - minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test:

- 24 for listening,

- 24 for reading,

- 27 for writing, and

- 23 for speaking.

All pieces of submitted evidence must be certified by a Commissioner of Declaration.
