Before being accepted into the course applicants:

  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review by interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • Complete the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

Apprenticeship

Please apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with your employer to organise your apprenticeship contract prior to applying for this course.

Resource requirements

  • On most building sites workers have hi-visibility shirts and standard work pants or shorts.
  • Standard building site workwear is required. i.e. What you currently wear to work. No loose-fitting clothes.
  • For Health reasons, PPE cannot be shared. It is preferred that all students purchase and bring their own PPE.
