Gain deep engineering skills and graduate as a specialist tradesperson in with the Certificate IV in Engineering.

This course is designed for existing engineering tradespeople or apprentices who want to study at a higher level during their apprenticeship.

Students will get the most up-to-date skills with the latest technology. Students will learn diverse engineering skills used in refrigeration and air conditioning, casting and moulding, computer numerically controlled (CNC) programming, fluid power, heavy fabrication, instrumentation, maintenance, plant mechanics, marine electronics, mechatronics, patternmaking, robotics, toolmaking, welding, and watch and clock services.

Learn from expert trainers and business owners, and gain the practical skills and knowledge to succeed in the workforce.

This course is available as part of the Free TAFE scheme for eligible students.

Before being accepted into the course applicants:

  • Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
  • Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
  • Require previous Cert III in Mechanical or fabrication trade or extensive engineering background and currently working in the industry.
  • Certificate III upgrade cohort are required to hold an older Certificate III or higher engineering qualification to be considered to undertake this pathway.

Prospective Traineeship or Apprenticeship students

Please apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with your employer to organise your apprenticeship contract prior to applying for this course.
