To be eligible for entry to this Masters program, applicants must have the following:

• a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (using a 7.0 scale)
• OR a Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies (or equivalent).

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Forensic Mental Health, a student must hold:

• a three-year Bachelor degree in a related field (Psychology, Nursing, Criminology, Social Work or other mental health-related discipline) from a recognised tertiary institution with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on a 7-point scale)
• OR a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Mental Health with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on a 7-point scale) - these students will receive 40 credit points of advanced standing.
• OR a Bachelor Honours degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (on a 7-point scale) - these students may apply for up to 40 credit points of advanced standing.

The University's Undergraduate Programs Admission Policy will apply.

This program is quota managed for which there is a limited number of places available to ensure that sufficient resources are available to support the students. Meeting the admission requirements for this program may not result in an applicant receiving an admission offer.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Employment Relations, a student must:

• hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale)
• OR have a minimum of five years equivalent full-time professional work experience in a relevant field
• OR have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above.

The University's Bachelor Honours Degree (AQF Level 8) Policy will apply.

Students who have completed Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Social Work (1372) or Bachelor of Social Work (1282) or equivalent program are eligible to apply for admission to this program. Students will undertake the 30 credit point dissertation in Years 3 and 4 as determined by the Program Director and subject to the following criteria:

• completion of Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Social Work (1372) or Bachelor of Social Work (1282) or equivalent program;
• achievement of a GPA of at least 5.5 for the second year core courses in the Bachelor of Social Work (1372) or Bachelor of Social Work (1282); and
• achievement of a grade of at least 5.0 in 2002HSV Human Services Research or equivalent research course.

The Program Director will take the following into consideration when assessing applications for admission:

• the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic; and
• the resources available to support the candidature including availability of appropriate supervision.

Note: Entry is competitive and will be determined by order of academic merit and is subject to available supervisory resources.

Consideration for admission will be given to those candidates who have:

• completed a Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline
• OR completed a Certificate IV or Diploma VET/TAFE qualification in a related discipline AND a minimum of one year full-time professional experience in the disability, rehabilitation or related human services fields.
• OR completed a minimum of three years full-time professional experience in the disability, rehabilitation or related human services fields and can demonstrate the ability to undertake graduate study through a discussion with the Program Director and provision of curriculum vitae and an employers reference.

The Master of Dentistry is only open to students who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Dental Health Science (1577) or the Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science (1259) at Griffith.

Students who wish to delay entry into the Master of Dentistry may do so for no more than one year. Students who delay entry cannot be guaranteed a place in the Master of Dentistry. Entry will be subject to available dental operatories (dental chairs) and to passing a clinical and written examination.

The higher degree research programs in Clinical Psychology are highly competitive and there are many more applicants than places available. Therefore, at Griffith there is a highly structured application process. Admission to all Clinical Psychology programs is restricted to students who are registered Psychologists or who are eligible for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. The application process involves three stages.

Stage 1: The application

All applicants are required to demonstrate their capability for training in Clinical Psychology as follows:

• Academic Achievement/Intellectual Ability: Applicants must have completed an Honours degree in Psychology (which involves an individual research project) at the level of First Class or Second Class (Division A) Honours and accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Candidates will also be considered if they have completed a Masters degree in Psychology if the Masters training program was APAC accredited and included a significant research component. Applicants who have completed comparable training and degrees outside Australia will be considered for admission but are advised to submit an academic transcript to the Australian Psychological Society (APS) which will assess whether their training is equivalent to an Honours degree from an Australian university. It is also highly recommended that students will have completed courses or units that are relevant to clinical psychology (for example, Abnormal Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Health Psychology). The Grade Point Average in the undergraduate degree, fourth year and relevant courses will be taken into account.
• Interpersonal and Counselling Capability: Given the interpersonal sensitivity and awareness required for effective clinical practice, successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills. This may be demonstrated by evidence of previous counselling training and relevant volunteer or work experience.

• Support from Referees: Three referee reports are required - two from academics who know your work well and a third from a professional referee who can attest to your interpersonal and counselling capabilities. See below for the Australian Psychology Postgraduate Program Reference Request System process.

Stage 2: The interview

Please note that, given the competitive nature of this program, only those applicants who have been evaluated by a panel of the clinical team as having demonstrated their suitability for training in clinical psychology (according to the above criteria and ranked sufficiently high enough relative to others) will be shortlisted for an interview. Applicants who are not shortlisted for an interview for the PhD in Clinical Psychology may still be considered for a PhD (research only) in Psychology.

The interview itself consists of a multi-station assessment process. Applicants are required to attend a face-to-face session that takes around half a day to complete. Applicants will be required to demonstrate sound interpersonal and emotion management skills as they respond to the various tasks at each station. Tasks include, for example, responding to an ethical dilemma, roleplaying an interview, roleplaying a supervision session, discussing research, responding to questions relating to their own reasons for applying for training in clinical psychology and a written task.

Applicants are assessed by a panel of clinical program staff in the multi-station interview process for selection into the clinical component of the program. Applicants will be ranked according to their performance at each station. For those ranked highly enough, a recommendation will be made to the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School for admission to the PhD in Clinical Psychology program.

Stage 3: The selection

First round selection into the clinical component of the program will be made by mid-November to applicants who are ranked at a sufficiently high level. A waitlist of applicants will be retained as second and third round offers may be made as late as January. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised as soon as is practically possible.

Offers of admission to the PhD Clinical Psychology Program (or the PhD research only program) will be issued by the Griffith Graduate Research School.

Successful applicants are admitted on a conditional basis with continuation in the training program being dependent upon satisfactory performance and progress.

Students should refer to the HDR Convenor prior to enrolling to confirm their study program.

Applicants wishing to commence in Research Intake 1 should lodge their application prior to the closing date listed at the top of this page. To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Diploma of Criminological Research Studies, a student must:

• hold an undergraduate degree in a related discipline from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum grade point average of 5.0 (using a 7.0 point scale) over the last two years of the Bachelor degree
• OR hold a Masters degree in a related discipline from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
• OR evidence of qualifications or learning equivalent to either of the foregoing categories.

As a condition of acceptance into the program, students will be required to find a suitable supervisor or supervisors and have their research project approved by the supervisor/s and the Program Director. Students requiring assistance in finding a suitable supervisor should contact a HDR Convenor in that discipline. The supervisor/s will be responsible for assessing and recommending applications for admission into the program and plans for programs of study and will act as the nominated student contact for any concerns and issues that arise in their study. The Program Director will have final approval for admissions into the program.

Students will be admitted on the basis of an audition, interview and/or folio of creative works. Admission as a candidate to the Master of Music Research will be contingent on applicants holding:

• a Bachelor of Music degree with at least Second Class Honours OR an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Consideration may also be given to graduates of accredited three-year diploma programs in an appropriate area of study and an accredited postgraduate diploma program in music with appropriate professional experience. Potential candidates may be asked to attend an additional interview and/or submit evidence of written scholarly work.

In addition to the academic qualifications required for candidature as described above, the following criteria need to be satisfied prior to recommendation for admission:

• the proposed program is appropriate for the higher degree research and is consistent with the academic aims and objectives of the QCGU;
• QCGU provide the necessary resources and facilities within the element's budget including consideration of whether the host element has a Research Training Scheme funded place;
• there are two qualified members of staff holding confirmed, continuing or fixed-term appointments of sufficient length for the purposes of supervision;
• the proposed program of work can be completed within the maximum period of candidature for the degree;
• that a suitable level of contact with the University supervisors will be maintained if the candidature is being undertaken away from Griffith University;
• where the applicant is in employment, capacity to meet the timelines and other requirements of candidature;
• the proposed research does not reproduce research that has previously been submitted for the award of a degree or diploma;
• that the proposed program conforms to the University's ethical guidelines on research involving humans and animals;
• where the intellectual property rights of the applicant may be a consideration, a suitable agreement protecting the rights of the student has been signed. Should a student be unwilling to sign an agreement, the research proposal may not be approved and the student may be required to choose another program of study in an area which is not commercially sensitive;
• whether the inclusion of confidential or sensitive material in the thesis is justified;
• the applicant has no outstanding financial obligation with the University and in the case of an International applicant is able to verify the necessary financial capacity to undertake the program;
• that the applicant possesses sufficient English language proficiency as described below.
