This program is offered as both an apprenticeship (delivered in the workplace), and on-campus study (without being employed).
If you are just starting out or would like to refresh your sewing skills, or learn advanced sewing techniques, then this program will suit you perfectly.
You will learn about fabric identification, fabric cutting, pattern-making techniques, sewing techniques, laying-up, professional finishing and alterations, all of which are important skills in this once more growing industry sector.
If you are already employed in this industry or are hoping to enter the industry this program will develop your knowledge of, and ability to apply operational and organisational techniques. These can be applied within clothing production/alteration enterprises or whilst working from home.

There are no minimum academic requirements.
To apply for the apprenticeship you must:
In your work you will be able to mark out, cut and sew fabric as well as operate specialised machinery. You will turn pattern designs into finished garments.
Working in smaller companies you may be involved in all stages of production, from marking fabric with the design through to sewing the garment together. In larger operations you may undertake specialist tasks.
Past graduates that have completed this program have worked with companies such as Billabong and Pacific Brands and a range of small companies.
You may find work in a variety of garment manufacturing enterprises, ranging from couture to garment alteration.
