Certificate
Furniture Finishing is all about adding the final 'wow' factor to a piece of furniture. You may be employed in the production of new furniture, applying stains and coatings to the finished items, or in the repair and restoration of older pieces, giving them a new lease on life. You'll learn to estimate and cost projects, how to use hand and power tools, and how prepare furniture surfaces and apply finishes as required. The Certificate III in Furniture Finishing also offers opportunities to specialise in skilled techniques like French polishing that are always in demand.
This qualification reflects vocational outcomes for those performing furniture finishing job roles in a defined range of skilled operations, usually within a range of broader related activities involving known routines, methods and procedures, where some discretion and judgement is required in the selection of equipment, services or contingency measures and within known time constraints.
Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.
