If you work in any business where food is prepared and served, such as a hotel, hospital, cafe, restaurant, aged care facility or bar - then you have a responsibility for protecting the health of your clients and ensuring the food and beverage you provide is safe to consume.

Undertake this skill set and learn how safely and hygienically handle food and beverage, that meet the required strict standards that apply in Tasmania. This program provides participants upon successful completion, with a set of skills to equip individuals for work in food handling to ensure food safety.

You will gain the skills and knowledge required to understand the importance of food safety, how to prevent contamination and control food safety risks and how to safely provide quality food to customers. The course will provide you with the knowledge and ability to follow predetermined organisational procedures and to identify and control food hazards.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed, and have the ability that is required to practice food safety and safe work practices in a range of food service operations.
