Foundations of Social and Sustainable Procurement is for professionals involved in procurement and supply chain management, in either government or non-government settings, who want to upskill in the area of social procurement.

To be eligible for this course, you should currently work in procurement or supply chain management, or work for a not-for-profit organisation or social enterprise that engages in procurement processes.

It is recommended that learners commencing this micro-credential are currently working in the field of procurement, supply chain management, or related corporate roles in government or the not for profit or private sectors.

This micro-credential has been developed in close consultation with government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations that are leading the way in social procurement practices in Australia.

You'll gain practical insights into how the social procurement process works and the benefits it can bring, which can be immediately applied to your role and organisation.

The course has been designed to ensure your learning outcomes match the real-world needs of the sector.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Critically assess the rationale of social procurement and explain why governments and organisations choose to participate in social procurement
  • Identify the key participants in the Australian social procurement sphere, and discuss how they intersect
  • Assess and critique policies and legislative frameworks relevant to social procurement.

This course runs over six weeks, which includes five weeks of learning and one week for assessment.

Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:

  • 10 hours guided learning
  • 10 hours private study, peer learning, reflective activity and professional reading
  • 22 hours assessment tasks.

Assessment:

  • Online discussion thread (30%)
  • Case study (70%).

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Foundations of Social and Sustainable Procurement micro-credential. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life.
