Learning in this course is equivalent to level 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Identify and articulate an organisation's strategic intent

Learn to precisely identify and articulate the strategy of an organisation or work unit, and the relationship to the value chain in which the organisation competes.

Connect strategy to operations through performance metrics

Learn to connect strategy to operations using the performance management framework. Explore its key components, including strategy maps, and identify how this framework is used to develop financial and non-financial metrics.

Use a balanced scorecard framework to connect strategy to operations and capacity management

Evaluate how performance metrics organised in a balanced scorecard can drive success across processes and activities, in line with the strategic intent. Explore the impact of activities and decision-making on metrics in settings with workplace constraints and capacity issues.

This micro-credential is ideal for managers, professionals, consultants, and business owners working within any industry.

It's particularly useful for those who are involved in, or aspire to be involved in, strategy execution, business process improvement initiatives, performance monitoring, and supervising or managing operational work units.

To undertake this course, you must have a bachelor's degree in any field or three years of experience working in a professional organisation of any kind.

Prior knowledge in information systems or business administration, including operations or project management would be useful, but it is not a prerequisite.

Co-designed with Telstra, this course has been developed to meet the growing expectation that organisational members will possess the knowledge and skills to contribute to performance management in line with strategic intent.

No matter your industry or organisation, throughout the course you'll gain practical skills that you can immediately apply to your professional life, and increase your capacity to help drive operational excellence.

By the end of this micro-credential, you will be able to:

  • Articulate an organisation's strategic intent and evaluate its successful execution using adequately developed performance metrics across work units and operational levels
  • Evaluate financial and non-financial performance metrics, organised through a balanced scorecard/dashboard framework, for their suitability in measuring the success and achievement of the intended strategy.

This course runs for six weeks. Your total time commitment will be approximately 42 hours, which includes:

  • 7.5 hours interactive webinars (x5 90 minute sessions)
  • 17.5 hours self-study
  • 5 hours guided learning
  • 12 hours assessment activities

Assessment:

  • Case analysis: strategic intent, value-chains to performance metrics (40%)
  • Case analysis: performance metric evaluation using a balanced scorecard/dashboard (60%).

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Managing Strategic Performance Melbourne MicroCert. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life. You can also share your Melbourne MicroCert digitally and via social media by adding it to your personal platforms, such as LinkedIn. See example certificate.

Managing Strategic Performance is currently a standalone course.
