Strategic Social and Sustainable Procurement is for professionals involved in procurement and supply chain management, in either government or non-government settings, who want to upskill in the area of social procurement.

It is recommended that learners commencing this micro-credential are:

  • currently working in the field of procurement, supply chain management, or related corporate roles in government or the not for profit or private sectors
  • have completed the Foundations of Social and Sustainable Procurement micro-credential.

This micro-credential has been developed in close consultation with government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations that are leading the way in social procurement practices in Australia.

You'll gain practical insights into how the social procurement process works and the benefits it can bring, which can be immediately applied to your role and organisation.

The course has been designed to ensure your learning outcomes match the real-world needs of the sector.

By the end of this course, you'll have a deeper understanding of social procurement approaches and how to apply them. You'll be able to:

  • Recognise and critique different approaches to social procurement in the Australian context
  • Identify the key participants in the Australian social procurement sphere, and discuss how they intersect
  • Apply social procurement approaches in an organisational context in order to improve outcomes from a community, environmental and socio-economic perspective.

This course runs over six weeks, including five weeks of teaching and one week for assessment.

Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:

  • 10 hours guided learning
  • 10 hours independent study, peer learning, reflective activities and professional reading
  • 22 hours for assessment tasks.

Assessment:

  • Online discussion and reflective synopsis (35%)
  • Social procurement project pitch (65%).

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Strategic Social and Sustainable Procurement micro-credential. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life. You can also share your micro-credential digitally and via social media by adding it to your personal platforms, such as LinkedIn. See example certificate.

To get the most out of this course, we recommend taking Foundations Social and Sustainable Procurement first, but this is not a formal prerequisite.
