University of New England (UNE) Courses

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree, or above in any discipline;

(b) satisfy the School by means of other relevant qualifications and workplace experience, at least equivalent to admission rule (a), of adequate preparation for candidature;

(c) hold a UNE Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice

.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 8 four-year Bachelor honours, or AQF Level 7 three-year Bachelor plus an AQF Level 8 fourth-year Bachelor honours or Graduate Diploma, in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)-accredited sequence in Psychology at the level of at least second class division one honours or equivalent obtained within the preceding 10 years

.

An exception to the 10-year rule may be made for currently registered psychologists who can demonstrate current compliance with the Psychology Board of Australia continuing professional development requirements; and be eligible for Provisional Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; and completion and provision of the following:

1. Working with Children Check;

2. National Police Certificate; and

3. Provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

(b) hold an AQF Level 9 Master of Professional Psychology from the University of New England (or have completed all the units in that course except PSYC531) in addition to satisfying the requirements of rule (a);

(c) hold General Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia without conditions for a minimum of 12 months; have completed a minimum of 12 months practice in the role of psychologist with General Registration, and can provide documentary evidence of this in the form of a letter from an employer(s); in addition to satisfying the requirements of Rule (a) (with the exception of the requirement for eligibility for Provisional Registration).

Places in the Master of Psychology (Clinical) are limited, because of this, applications are ranked: first for an offer of Interview, then again for a place in the program. Final offers are based on interview performance, academic record and referee reports. Failure to receive an invitation to interview or offer of candidature in the program does not indicate a determination of lack of suitability for postgraduate professional psychology training but, instead, reflects the high standard of applications UNE receives each year.

Due to the high number of applications to our professional psychology programs, the University of New England does not provide individual feedback on applications or interview performance.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in the same or another health, business or management type discipline from a recognised educational provider;

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Health Management from the University of New England;

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 postgraduate qualification in the same or another health, business or management discipline from a recognised educational provider.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor;

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Practice from UNE;

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Practice from UNE;

(d) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, AQF Level 9 Masters or AQF Level 10 Doctorate degree,

(e) satisfy UNE by means of other relevant* professional experience by submitting a Statement of Service from your employer/s and a resume outlining a minimum of three years' full-time (or equivalent) relevant* professional experience and training undertaken in the past 10 years.

*Relevant disciplines include,

: Counselling, psychology, social work, nursing, mental health nursing, community services, children's services, youth work, care for the aged, care for the disabled, residential client care, welfare, mental health support, pastoral care.

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 8 UNE Graduate Certificate in Health Management or equivalent;

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline*;

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 UNE Graduate Diploma in Health Management or equivalent;

(d) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in a relevant discipline*;

(e) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in the same or another health, business or management discipline;

(f) satisfy UNE by means of other relevant* professional experience by submitting a Statement of Service from your employer/s and/or a resume outlining a minimum of three years' full-time (or equivalent) relevant* professional experience.

Health Management, or

Nursing and Community Services with health management related content

1. Admission to candidature in the degree of Master of Rural Science (MRurSc) may be approved by the Committee only when the Head of School has:

(a) certified that the necessary facilities and appropriate support for the applicant undertaking the proposed MRurSc program are available;

(b) nominated an appropriate Principal Supervisor and Co-supervisor(s) in accordance with Rule 4.

2. The Committee may, on the recommendation of the relevant Head of School, admit to candidature into the course for the degree of Master of rural Science (MRurSc) an applicant who:

(a) has a degree of Bachelor with at least second class honours (AQF Level 8) or equivalent; or

(b) has a degree at AQF Level 7 or equivalent and has adequate relevant preparation since graduation. Adequate relevant preparation may be gained by an approved academic course, professional training, during an occupation or through peer reviewed publications.

3. All applicants must meet the University's

A candidate shall:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline*; or

(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline*; or

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours in a relevant discipline*; or

(d) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification or an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, in a non-relevant discipline; or

(e) satisfy UNE by means of other relevant professional experience by submitting a Statement of Service from your employer/s and a resume outlining a minimum of three years' full-time (or equivalent) relevant professional experience and training, taken in the past 10 years**.

Applicants applying under Rule (d) or Rule (e) must submit a Statement of Service.

** Professional experience refers to the provision of services in the area of disability, for example, a manager in a disability service provider or special education teacher.

3. All applicants must meet the University's

A candidate shall submit a Statement of Service for their work experience from their employer; and

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline* and at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a non-relevant discipline and have at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma or Honours qualification plus at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**;

(d) hold an AQF Level 9 Masters qualification or above and at least two years of full time equivalent relevant work experience**.

1. Admission to the Pathways Enabling Course will be open to candidates who are not admissible to a course and who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate course;

2. Candidates:

(a) who have not successfully completed a course leading to an award of the University;

(b) who state that completion of this Enabling Course will make them better prepared to undertake an undergraduate course;

(c) who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate course.

Admission to the TRACKS tertiary preparation program will be open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates:

(a) who are not admissible to a course and who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate course;

(b) who state that completion of this enabling course will make them better qualified to undertake an undergraduate degree and who intend to seek admission to an undergraduate degree;

(c) who have unsuccessfully attempted an undergraduate course previously and who state that completion of this enabling course will make them better qualified to undertake an undergraduate course.
