The Master of Design (MDes) is an exploration of 21st century creative practices suited to current or emerging designers who wish to complement their existing skills with concepts, strategies, and technologies to solve complex problems in business, government and communities.
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Design, applicants must:

  • hold a Bachelor degree in non-related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
  • OR hold a Bachelor degree or a Graduate Certificate (or higher) in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing
  • OR hold a Graduate Diploma of Design or a Bachelor Honours degree in a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution - these students will be eligible for 80 credit points of advanced standing
  • OR have a combination of alternative admission criteria such as formal, informal and non-formal learning deemed to be equivalent to either of the above - these students may be eligible for 10 to 80 credit points of advanced standing
  • AND provide a brief personal statement of 2-3 paragraphs outlining:
    1. Why you want to study a Master of Design and
    2. A description of the research and/or practical projects that you would like to undertake during the study with reference to the courses and topics in the program that attract your interest.

This course reflects the role of interior designers who develop creative and technical solutions for built interior environments.
Entry Requirements

You must have a Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate an interest and experience in the field (such as workplace or other practical experience).

If you already have a Certificate IV in Interior Decoration or a Diploma of Interior Design or are able to demonstrate equivalent skills and experience, you can begin at either the Diploma or the Advanced Diploma level. A skills recognition process will apply.
