The University of Queensland (UQ) Courses

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or
• a Graduate Certificate in Governance and Public Policy from the university.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or software engineering, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below). Applications based on post-secondary study and/or work experience will be individually assessed.

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or software engineering, or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) which includes all of the relevant discipline content (see below), or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and 2 years full-time equivalent relevant work experience (see below). Applications based on post-secondary study and/or work experience will be individually assessed.

If your bachelor's degree was not awarded in computer science or software engineering, you must have successfully completed all of the following discipline content in your tertiary studies:

• data structures and algorithms
• at least 2 programming courses
• discrete mathematics or algebra
• at least 3 from the following:
• computer organisation or computer architecture or computer systems
• computer networks or communication networks
• operating systems
• databases or information systems
• probability and statistics

Relevant work experience includes professional experience in software development or engineering, cyber security analysis or architecture, data engineering or science, machine learning, computer networks or statistical analysis that involves programming experience and work experience in at least two of the following areas:

• computer organisation or computer architecture or computer systems
• computer networks or communication networks
• operating systems
• databases or information systems
• probability and statistics

This will need to be supported with evidence.

Evidence of relevant work experience should include a letter from your employer (and/or previous employers) clearly stating the following:

• That you work (or worked) within the specified organisation
• The nature of your work, detailing any relevant duties and responsibilities to the entry criteria above
• The length of time you were in your role/s (i.e demonstrating minimum length for entry) and whether this was full-time, part-time, or casual
• Any further bespoke conditions listed by the entry criteria

Letters will typically be expected to be presented on company letterhead and signed by a manager or HR representative. A CV or resume is not a sufficient document on its own, and must be accompanied by a supporting letter as described above.

All applications based on work experience are subject to an individual assessment.

Entry into a program through work experience does not necessarily provide a pathway into further study in a Masters.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with first-year, university-level chemistry or biology, or
• 2 years full-time equivalent, relevant work experience in food science, food technology or food engineering.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or
• a graduate certificate or graduate diploma in magnetic resonance technology.

• a graduate certificate or graduate diploma in magnetic resonance technology.

Relevant disciplines include mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, medical imaging, medical radiation, radiography, allied health, biomedical engineering, engineering, and computer science

It's possible to complete this degree in 2 years or 1.5 years depending on your qualifications and experience.

You can apply for any duration as long as you meet the entry requirements. You may also be eligible to apply for credit or exemptions to shorten your degree further. You'll graduate with the same qualification no matter how long you take to complete the degree.

To be eligible to complete the degree in 2 years

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or
• a graduate certificate or graduate diploma or master's degree in any discipline, or
• to have successfully completed 3 years of study towards an approved qualification at an overseas partner institution, with a formal pathway to the Master of Cyber Security.

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

For the Leadership field of study, you'll also need:

• 2 years of supervisory or management experience, such as managing a team or people, client accounts or major projects, resource planning, or direct responsibility for financial delegations.

* Please note that if a graduate certificate (or graduate diploma) from the same program suite is used as the basis of entry into the program and you do not have a degree in the relevant discipline, you will not be eligible for credit towards the Masters program.

If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you can reduce the number of courses you need to complete and graduate in less time.

To be eligible to complete the degree in 1.5 years

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or
• a graduate certificate or graduate diploma or master's degree in a relevant discipline (see below).

You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.

For the Leadership field of study, you'll also need:

• 5 years of supervisory or management experience, such as managing a team or people, client accounts or major projects, resource planning, or direct responsibility for financial delegations.

* Please note that if a graduate certificate (or graduate diploma) from the same program suite is used as the basis of entry into the program and you do not have a degree in the relevant discipline, you will not be eligible for credit towards the Masters program.

Relevant Disciplines depend on the field of study you intend to choose.

• For the Cyber Defence field of study, relevant disciplines include computer science, information technology, computer engineering, mechatronics, electrical and electronic engineering, mathematics or software engineering.
• For the Cyber Criminology field of study, relevant disciplines include sociology, criminology, criminal justice and crime science.
• For the Cryptography field of study, relevant disciplines include mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, actuarial science and information technology.
• For the Leadership field of study, relevant disciplines include commerce, management, business, accounting, information technology, computer science and leadership.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, plus 1 year full-time equivalent relevant work experience in a healthcare, public health or research setting, or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and have 2 years full-time equivalent, relevant work experience in a healthcare, public health or research setting.

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below), or
• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, plus 1 year full-time equivalent relevant work experience in a healthcare, public health or research setting, or
• to have completed post-secondary studies and have 2 years full-time equivalent, relevant work experience in a healthcare, public health or research setting.

Relevant disciplines include advanced sciences, behavioural and social sciences, biomedical sciences, biostatistics, counselling, dentistry and oral health, development studies, environmental health, environmental science, exercise and sport science, food science, health economics, health management, mathematics, medicine and medical sciences, nursing, nutrition, occupational health and safety, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physiotherapy, psychology, public health and health sciences, science, sociology, speech therapy, and veterinary sciences.

To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with at least one course in chemistry and biology, or
• a graduate certificate (or equivalent) in molecular biology.

• a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.

• To be eligible for admission, a person must have completed the program requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent award), including all courses listed as pre-requisites for entry into honours, with a GPA of at least 5.5 for an approved combination of courses.
• Applicants who completed an equivalent award must demonstrate that an equivalent body of knowledge has been gained to an equivalent standard. Entry to the program for these applicants may be subject to completion of additional work.
• Approval is required from the executive dean where the degree used for entry was completed more than two years prior to program commencement. If enrolment is approved, the executive dean may set conditions.

Relevant disciplines include a bachelor's degree specialising in at least one of the following areas: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy studies, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability or technology (agricultural, information, nano, bio).

Relevant work experience includes work in: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability and technology (agricultural, information, nano, bio).
